Library Instruction Information for Faculty
The library has a comprehensive Library Instruction program. Performing research and achieving information literacy outcomes helps students develop critical thinking and analytical skills that are essential for school, the workplace, and lifelong learning. We’re here to help faculty integrate research assignments into their curriculum and help students complete them effectively while learning vital information literacy skills.
You can schedule an instruction session by e-mailing Scott Cohen.
Library instruction takes place in a variety of formats, including:
- Distribution of a subject guide and demonstration of resources, using the library's Proxima projector or your classroom projector.
- Hands-on library instruction using Alteris in the library data center, your computer equipped classroom, or by reserving a separate computer-equipped classroom through the facilities scheduler.
- A class visit to the library for unstructured research time.
- A brief visit to your classroom to answer reference questions from students.
- Creation of instructional materials including bibliographies, subject guides, power point presentations, and video demonstrations using Camtasia.
